STAPLES produces pocket spring mattresses with a legendary reputation. The British traditional manufacturer is committed to using the finest natural materials, creating continental beds that are true masterpieces.
STAPLES owes its renown to the British royal family: in 1915, King George V of England fell from his horse during a troop visit. On medical advice, he chose a STAPLES bed to find restful sleep despite his pain. The bed clearly served him well, as he issued a royal endorsement for STAPLES and simultaneously appointed the company as a royal warrant holder.
The exceptional quality of STAPLES mattresses lies in the craftsmanship of their pocket springs and the construction of their padding. Each pocket spring is carefully hand-enclosed in breathable calico pockets and connected with tear-resistant linen thread to form a honeycomb-like spring layer that serves as the core of the mattress.
The top and bottom of the spring core are then covered with a carefully selected range of natural fillings. Premium-quality wool such as fine mohair, luxurious cashmere, and soft merino are used alongside combed horsehair and exquisite silk. These natural fillings ensure the best possible sleep climate thanks to their thermal properties and offer the highest level of comfort.
Next, the spring core and fillings are encased in silky satin and sewn by hand. This is followed by a process that requires decades of expertise: using long needles, the filling and spring core are hand-tufted to the cover and secured with textile rosettes on the surface. This meticulous craftsmanship ensures that every STAPLES mattress retains its functionality and shape for years.
STAPLES sources its natural filling materials from organic British farms, including the Duchy Home Farm in Cornwall, which was formerly leased by His Royal Highness, Charles III.
