Payment Options for Purchase in Our Shops
For immediate merchandise, we accept cash payments, payments by EC card, and credit card. Upon concluding a purchase agreement, a deposit is due (usually 30%), for which you can choose between cash payment, credit card, or EC card.
The remaining balance can be paid prior to the delivery date via bank transfer or in-store payment. Otherwise, the remaining amount is due in cash upon delivery. Please note that card payments are not accepted at the time of delivery. We kindly ask that you have the exact amount ready, as the drivers carry limited change.
We always have at least 100 beds in stock. If your desired bed is not available, we will order it from the manufacturer and inquire about the specific delivery date. The average delivery time is approximately 8-10 weeks. We will provide you with exact delivery times during the sales conversation in our stores. Once the bed has arrived, we will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment.
In the delivery area of our stores, we offer a delivery service for beds purchased from us. If you wish, we will gladly assemble the bed in your bedroom. Otherwise, we can ensure nationwide delivery within Germany and even across Europe, up to the curbside. Please note that for this delivery option, you should have sufficient manpower on-site to ensure that the bed can be carried into your bedroom.
Before purchasing, take your time to measure the space in your bedroom. The headboards of box spring systems can be taller than conventional beds. However, due to the frameless design of the box spring bases, you gain more space on the sides. Also, make sure that the headboards do not cover the outlets in your bedroom.
Take a second look at stairs and clearance (the height of door openings). Pocket spring mattresses are thicker and heavier than conventional mattresses and are generally not allowed to be bent. This makes transport more challenging, especially with large, single-piece mattresses.
If you have a low ceiling in the staircase or narrow stairs, such as spiral staircases, the delivery may only be possible via the facade: This service is not part of our standard offer.
Please clear any obstacles from the stairs or hallway before delivery, such as shoe racks, shelves, or vases. Also, check if the doors can be opened sufficiently: This will make the delivery process easier.
Many of our customers order a bed from our COCOON collection for a new apartment they have just moved into. Often, a bed from our selection also replaces an existing bed. By the delivery date, the old bed should be dismantled so that we can set up your new bed. If you opt for delivery and assembly at the time of purchase, you can also arrange for the disposal of your old bed: We will take care of its environmentally friendly disposal.
If delivery and assembly are arranged on-site, we will take all the packaging from your new bed with us. Otherwise, the transport films can be disposed of as packaging waste.
We would be happy to assist you in making your day as efficient as possible. If desired, our drivers can notify you by phone about the delivery and assembly. Please note that we will charge for a re-delivery if we are unable to reach you at the agreed delivery time.
If the bed is delivered by freight to the curbside, unfortunately, we cannot offer phone notifications, as the delivery is handled by a third-party service provider.
The first night in a new bed truly has a magical quality. However, it may take some time for your body to adjust to the sleep comfort of the new bed. During this time, muscles, tendons, and joints relax—and this adjustment process can take up to two weeks. As a result, the more ergonomic sleep position may feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable at first, much like how we feel after a good sports massage.
In addition to the sleep comfort of your dream bed, we want to offer you the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made a sustainable purchase. That’s why we provide additional forms of guarantee on all beds and mattresses from our range, which go well beyond the manufacturer’s warranties.
With the 25-year COCOON guarantee, we offer replacement in case individual pocket springs in your pocket spring mattress break or the frame of the box spring base gets damaged due to normal use. We also offer a 5-year linear warranty on mattresses and toppers, covering all defects that may occur with normal use and proper care.
These warranties go far beyond the scope of the manufacturer’s warranty, demonstrating the high standards we set for our products and the service our company provides.
The lifespan and function of your mattress can be affected by factors such as moisture and dust. Both of these factors arise during sleep – on average, we release up to a liter of moisture every night while sleeping, and in particularly warm nights, it can even be up to two liters. Dust also accumulates while sleeping: through contact with the bedding, we lose fine skin particles as we move in our sleep, which can collect as house dust on the bed, mattress, and pillows.
To care for your mattress and do good for your health, we recommend the following:
Ensure a dry bed: After sleeping, you should ventilate the duvet and mattress with an open window. Be sure to also ventilate any toppers.
Always use a mattress protector, which should be placed between the bed sheet and the mattress or between the bed sheet and the topper. This helps prevent moisture from reaching the mattress. Since mattress protectors are washable, they also prevent the buildup of dust and mites.
To remove dust from the mattress, regularly use a clothing brush to go over the mattress cover. We advise against using a vacuum cleaner. Even when using an upholstery brush on a low setting, a vacuum cleaner can pull natural materials like cashmere or horsehair through the padding and cover.
We strongly recommend regularly rotating and flipping your pocket spring mattress. Many manufacturers of pocket spring mattresses even require this. Exceptions are pillow-top mattresses, where the topper is firmly sewn to the top, and mattresses with a fixed base. Other pocket spring mattresses are usable on both sides.
Rotating and flipping prevents consistent pressure on the two weight-bearing points, the shoulders and hips. This helps prevent sagging and maintains the functionality of your pocket spring mattress over a longer period. The result: Your spine will continue to sink correctly into the mattress and be supported even after years.
This is a topic we intentionally address here, especially during times like the Corona pandemic, where many people have become more aware of their sense of smell.
A newly acquired mattress can literally be “smelled.” Similar to the sensory impression we experience in the interior of a brand-new car, we refer to this as the “new car smell,” which typically fades after two to three weeks.
With our pocket spring mattresses, you can also experience such a “new” scent. The sensory impression is understandable when considering the various steps involved in the manufacturing process of a mattress. Each production step contributes a distinct note to the fragrance of the new mattress: this includes the textile encasing of the pocket springs inside, the padding of the spring layers with foam or natural materials, and the processing and stitching of the fabric for the outer cover, known as the outer fabric of the mattress.
Our manufacturers regularly have their production methods checked to ensure that no negative effects on your sleep occur for you as a customer and user.
This means that, with high-quality mattresses from brands like Avebury and Staples, you might actually perceive the scent of the natural materials used, such as cashmere and horsehair. The traditional, handcrafted processing of these mattresses does not exclude this.
A dream bed that not only looks outstanding but also provides deep and restful sleep. The foundation for this is a box spring sleep system, available in various versions and firmness levels.
The principle of a pocket spring mattress remains the same: the heavier parts of the body, such as the pelvis and shoulders, can sink in, while the lighter parts are supported. This way, the spine forms a horizontal line – the muscles relax, circulation is improved, and you find peace and recovery during sleep.
Most of our pocket spring mattresses are designed for a weight range of 50 – 110 kg. If the weight exceeds this range, the mattress should be significantly firmer to prevent sagging after prolonged use. If the weight is below this range, the mattress should be considerably softer to allow the body to sink in.
The relationship between weight and height will be discussed further. As for the pure body height: it is crucial when selecting the mattress size. For people up to 1.90 meters in height, a standard 200 cm long mattress is generally sufficient, providing enough space between the head, pillow, and headboard. If the height approaches 2 meters or exceeds it, you should consider purchasing a mattress with a length of 210 cm. Our sleep advisors in the stores will be happy to inform you about possible custom sizes.
To find the right bed for you, our sleep consultants in the stores will first discuss your individual sleep needs with you. This involves two main questions. The first concerns your sleep type: Do you move around a lot in bed or do you sleep peacefully on one side? Do you prefer sleeping on your back or on your stomach? The other question concerns your physical build, specifically the ratio of height to weight: Smaller individuals with a delicate frame require a different sleep system than tall, sturdy people.
Most people are quite familiar with their own sleep behavior. You can likely say for yourself which of the four groups you belong to: Are you a stomach sleeper, side sleeper, back sleeper, or position changer? Each group requires a different mattress to sleep peacefully and relaxed.
Stomach sleepers
Stomach sleepers should opt for a firmer mattress due to their preferred sleep position. If you sleep on too soft a mattress, your back may sag, and you’ll wake up feeling sore. Many stomach sleepers also tend to put one arm under their head, which means they need a rather flat pillow. Medically, it is often advised not to sleep on your stomach to protect your back and especially your neck.
Side sleepers
Side sleepers are candidates for a slightly softer mattress. Due to our organic body structure, in this sleep position, the shoulders and hips need to sink deepest, while the lighter parts of the body are supported by the mattress – this keeps the spine aligned horizontally during sleep. The ideal firmness of the mattress for side sleepers depends especially on individual body structure.
Back sleepers
Back sleepers tend to prefer a mattress that can be described as medium-firm. People who sleep on their back often prefer a thicker pillow because it absorbs most of the pressure in the shoulder area – above the pelvis, the spine requires special support.
Position changers
Everyone changes positions during sleep – it can happen dozens of times per night. Flex sleepers, also called position changers, switch their sleeping position: from stomach to back, then to the side, and back to the stomach. For these individuals, an all-around mattress is the best choice – it shouldn’t be too hard to sleep on your back, but it also needs to be point-elastic to allow for comfortable side sleeping, while not being too soft to ensure good sleep on the stomach. Box spring sleep systems are particularly recommended for position changers, as the mechanical force of the springs provides flexible support even during frequent position changes.
Stomach sleepers should choose a relatively flat pillow, as they often tend to place a hand under the head pillow.
Side sleepers should use a pillow that supports the neck, aligning the head and spine properly.
Back sleepers should opt for pillows that support the weight of the shoulder and head without forcing the neck to arch too much.
Many users love the feeling of lying down in a continental bed and immediately feeling like they’re on “cloud 9”: This cozy feeling is provided by toppers. These are thin over-mattresses that lie separately on or are attached to the mattress. As an additional cushioning layer in a box spring sleep system, toppers provide extra space for the shoulders and hips to sink in. They also protect the main mattress from moisture. Toppers are typically filled with pure filling materials: options include cold foam, latex, cotton, horsehair, or down. Note: A topper always makes the sleep system softer, but never harder, as it doesn’t offer mechanical support.
